Response to comment #1: Thanks very much, Cap. That's an interesting idea, but I would rather restrict my college football maps to Conferences or final AP Poll rankings. I am not sure if I will do any more this season, until the final AP Poll top ten in January. But next year I am definitely doing the Pac-10, with modern helmet history of all 12 Pac-10 teams. The demise of one of the helmet sites I relied on has made it much harder for me to do modern helmet history charts, because some of the old helmet designs of less-supported teams are impossible to find.

I absolutely love your sports maps. I visit every couple of months for around 2 years. Fantastic work.
I have a suggestion... College football teams in Texas. Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Baylor, SMU, Texas Christian, Houston, Rice... College football is huge in Texas and I find the rivalries interesting.

Do you have this map in print. My husband is a big fan of black ball and I would love to get him a print of this if you have any. It's a great map, you did a awesome job on it.

Response to comment #2: It happens to a lesser degree somewhat often. The simple fact is there are not all that many second division clubs in countries other than England which have large fan bases (that is to say, averaging above 15,000 while in the second division or lower). And the law of averages says that some clubs that don't (and in some cases can't) draw above 10,000 make it into the top flights of countries like Spain, and even more often in countries like the Netherlands and Portugal; while in countries like Greece there are always minnows in the top flight. In 2008, a Belgian club, Tubize, was promoted with an average attendance of less than 1,000 per game. This while clubs like Standard Liège, Brugge, and Anderlecht draw well over 20,000 per game [Tubize survived for a second season and drew 3,995 in 08/09, but are now back in the 2nd tier].

I would have to say that besides England, the two countries where the attendance discrepancy is usually the least between the median and the lowest is England, then Germany, then Italy. [Of course this season, tiny Blackpool skews the English figures.]

Hmmmmmmm, 50k to 4k, another league with a large discrepancy in attendance.

Is this the norm in Europe?

Response to comment#17: You are welcome Joel.

I am currently working on the Big Ten map I promised for the 2010 season (with post-WW II helmet history of each team). I plan to post it on Thursday, September 2nd.
